Alongside Walter Gropius, Bruno Taut, Mies van der Rohe and Peter Behrens, Hans Poelzig (1869–1936) was undoubtedly one of the most important German architects of the first half of the 20th century. His life and work are inextricably connected to Berlin where he was born, studied, lived with his wife, Marlene Moeschke, in Westend, taught at the Charlottenburg Technical High School, ran his architectural practice and designed masterly buildings such as the Großes Schauspielhaus in Mitte, the Rundfunkhaus in Charlottenburg and the Babylon cinema.…
