Announcing AN’s 2024 Best of Design Awards

Submissions are open from now until September 13, 2024

The Architect’s Newspaper’s 12th annual Best of Design Awards is open for submissions, and this year the competition has gone global. The project-based award recognizes the best design in interiors, facades, buildings, landscapes, and more categories. Unlike previous iterations that were only open to North American firms, the 2024 awards is open to firms and projects in any part of the world.

To coincide with a more expansive pool of applicants, weve expanded the categories within the competition, too. This year, the Adaptive Reuse category has been subdivided into Residential, Commercial, Education, and Hospitality categories to provide a fairer scale of comparison during the judging process. The same has been done for the Building Renovation category (with the same subcategories). Additionally, Workplace and Residential categories were broken up by size and scale. There are now 53 total categories in the competition, including an Emerging Architects Project Award, an award for practices that have been founded within the last five years to submit their work. This replaces the Young Architects Award from last year which required applicants to submit a portfolio of work. Instead, the Emerging Architects Project Award requires submission materials related only to one specific project—though applicants can certainly enter more than once with different projects.

Submissions are currently open until the final deadline of September 13 with Early Bird registration open until August 2. Students can submit work with reduced price entry ($200 off) that will be applied automatically at checkout. Emerging architects can also submit with an almost 50 percent off entry fee using the code EMERGING EARLY at checkout during the Early Bird registration period and EMERGING afterwards.

Winners will receive a limited edition, archival print from Archigram, signed by Archigram members. In addition, winners will be published online in The Architect’s Newspaper and in our annual Best of print issue.
