Philippe Starck, the famed architect and designer, has let the world know that he incorporates the architectural adage of “less is more” into his everyday sartorial decisions. In a video interview with Nowness, Starck said, “I don’t wear underwear because I don’t need it.”
He called underwear one of the “hugest lies” he knows because it is ultimately an attempt to pretend that human beings are not animals who do animal things. He also criticized the societal norms that make it acceptable to walk down the street in a bathing suit but not underwear. “It is astonishing,” he said.
