Florida State University seeks candidates for a one-year Visiting Professor position for the 2017-2018 academic year.

Applicants must hold (or be expected to receive prior to August 2017) a doctorate in urban and regional planning, or an equivalent degree in a related field, and must demonstrate teaching excellence.

The successful candidate will teach two courses per semester. The four assigned courses will include graduate-level courses on plan implementation, statistics, and forecasting for plan development, and a fourth course to be selected from amongst planning for community infrastructure, sustainable development, or a land use planning course in our undergraduate program. The successful candidate will also advise students in our master’s degree program. The starting date for this one-year visiting position is August 7, 2017.

Administratively housed within the College of Social Sciences and Public Policy, the Department includes 11 faculty and 110 graduate students and offers a PAB-accredited professional master's degree, a Ph.D., and an undergraduate minor. The Department offers joint degrees in Planning/Demography, Planning/International Affairs, Planning/Law, Planning/Public Administration, and Planning/Public Health. The PhD program has research emphases in: planning for an aging population; healthy, sustainable, and resilient communities; transportation, land use, and accessibility; collaborative environmental management; and human settlements and institutions in the context of global change. College and university partners include the Center for Disaster Risk Policy, the Pepper Institute for Aging and Public Policy, Center for Accessibility and Safety for an Aging Population, and the Center for Demography and Population Health.

Founded in 1965, we have awarded more than 1,500 graduate degrees. The Department also includes the Florida Planning and Development Lab, an entity designed to provide planning services to communities in Florida, the southeastern U.S., and Latin America.
