The Department of Architecture in the University of Pennsylvania Stuart Weitzman School of Design is seeking applicants for a full-time tenure track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor of Architecture, beginning July 2020.
This position requires the ability to teach design studios in architecture, as well as seminar or lecture courses according to the candidate’s research specialty. Depending on qualifications and interest, there may also be opportunities to participate in the Department’s Master of Science in Design programs: Advanced Architectural Design (MSD-AAD), Environmental Building Design (MSD-EBD) and the new Robotics and Automated Systems (MSD-RAS).
The University of Pennsylvania educates in architecture at three levels: undergraduate, professional, and doctoral. Teaching in architectural design and related subjects may occur at any of these level. Design teaching may take the form of required or elective studios.
In addition to effectiveness in teaching, applicants must demonstrate a strong capacity for the production of professional and scholarly work, through a record of projects, exhibitions, and/or writings, disseminated in past publications. Equally important are plans for future practice, research, and publication.
Minimum qualifications include a professionally accredited Master’s degree in Architecture; PhD is welcome, but not required. Rank of Assistant or Associate will be determined based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
