This bicycle tour explores the Brooklyn Navy Yard’s transition from one of the nation’s foremost naval shipbuilding facilities to a national leader for sustainable urban industrial parks. On this tour, you’ll learn about many of the yard’s green initiatives, including adaptive reuse of historic structures and materials, alternative energy projects, and sustainable practices in manufacturing employed by some of the yard’s 330+ tenants.
The tour will include visits to such sites as the yard’s historic Dry Dock No. 1, still in use for commercial ship repair, the nation’s first green multi-story industrial building, and the LEED Platinum-certified Brooklyn Navy Yard Center at BLDG 92. Turnstile Tours hosts this tour on behalf of BLDG 92.
