LEVERAGE: Strengthening Neighborhoods Through Design Exhibition
Deadline: 07.01.2011

As part of Urban Energy, a year-long series celebrating twenty years of strengthening neighborhoods through design, the Community Design Collaborative is seeking submissions for Leverage: Strengthening Neighborhoods through Design, an exhibition that showcases community, collaboration, and design. Design firms, nonprofit organizations, public agencies, and others across the nation are invited to submit projects that highlight best practices in community design, participatory design, pro bono service, and public interest architecture. Entrants can submit either an exemplary project or program. All project types and scales are encouraged: large and small, built and unbuilt, new construction, adaptive reuse and preservation. Submissions of programs (workshops, design charrettes, tours, exhibitions, etc.) should include a visual representation.

Intent to submit forms with accompanying pdf, a project description, and $100 Non-Members or $75 Members (ACD, AAO, AIA, Collaborative volunteer active since 2001) entry fee is due July 1. The exhibition will open October 1, 2011 at the Center for Architecture in Philadelphia. Come celebrate the exhibition opening party Wednesday, October 5, 2011.

The exhibition is scheduled to coincide with the launch of a special 20th Anniversary publication of the same name and the DESIGN IN ACTION 2011 Conference , a joint conference of Association of Architecture Organizations/Architecture + Design Education Network and Association for Community Design to be held in Philadelphia. It will also be the Collaborative’s featured contribution for Design Philadelphia 2011, the largest city-wide design festival in the nation.

Visit the Collaborative’s website for complete details and to submit online. http://blog.cdesignc.org/exhibition-call-for-entries/
